Gaudi - Bad Boy Bass (directed by Alan Becker)

Gaudi

London based producer and solo artist Gaudi is about 2 drop his new album No Prisoners - via Six Degrees Records. It’s a phat mixture of dub elements, electronica and world music - inna mostly down-tempo nature. Listen 2 Gaudi’s style, while watching this hilarious animation video here. (via)

Le Le - Disco Monster (directed by Parra & Boonstra)

Le_Le

Le Le = Parra (inspiring illustration artist) + Serge Fabergé (from hip-hopgroep DJVT) + Rimer Veeman (from elctrorockers Comtron). Their new album, Le Classics will be available through Gomma next month. Check out the new video by Parra & KesselsKramer’s Ewoudt Boonstra: here. (via)

Hot Chip - I Feel Better (directed by Peter Serafinowicz)

Hot_Chip

This is the 2nd video out of Hot Chip’s fantastic One Night Life Stand album via EMI. Directed by Liverpool-born comedian Peter Serafinowicz (Look Around You, The Peter Serafinowicz Show, and Paul McCartney in the upcoming remake of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine), the video features dancing chips boys and a laser spitting baldy. Watch it here. (via)

Rusko - Woo Boost (directed by Pomp & Clout)

Rusko_Woo_Boost

Such a tight beat: here’s the new video 4 Rusko’s debut single Woo Boost on Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint. Rusko = Chris Mercer and originally from Leeds, gonna drop his debut album O.M.G. this May. Until then watch the Pomp & Clout-directed extravaganza here. (via)

Nina Hagen - African Reggae (dir. ?)

nina_hagen

Congratulations, Nina! Truly authentic artists are few and far in between, but Nina Hagen -  who turns 55 today - is one of the few artists who is authentic and truly talented. In the 1970’s she started with the Nina Hagen Band. Her colleagues then turned into Spliff, while Nina worked solo and stayed errorless. Watch the epic video for her 1979 release African Reggae here.

Hard Ton - Earthquake (directed by Alex Zanini Wawashi)

Hard_Ton

Italy’s latest disco queen, Hard Ton has just released his debut EP, Selfish - via Bavarias Gigolo Records. Nice 2 meet the Acid House again. I just love these Chicago tunes! Neo-Divine hits the scene, watch it here. (via)

Sebastien Tellier - Look (directed by Petra Mryzk & François Moriceau)

Sebastien_Tellier_Look

Here’s the new work of the earlier featured duet Mrzyk & Moriceau - for the latest Sebastien Tellier-video. Released 2008 through Rekord Makers, Look is part of Tellier’s Sexuality album. Check other clips here and here. Alors, watch the cool butt illustrations and girl-layouts here. (via)

Morrissey - Ganglord (directed by Dennis Roberts)

Morrissey

In 2009 the best hair in rock was back with Swords, Morrissey’s latest b-sides collection. Tracks were mainly leftovers from his last three album sessions and I’ll give some kudos 2 Morrissey, for having an open mind in the possibility that promotional video can be art. Watch the video here. (via)

Goldfrapp - Rocket (directed by Kim Gehrig)

Goldfrapp

Well here’s the promo video for the next Goldfrapp track called Rocket, which not only features a desert-driving rocket truck, but incredibly strange music. Best of all, it’s almost three and a half minutes long, which makes the rocket thing more appealing than ever before. Please enjoy with my compliments at my friends of msn or vimeo. (via)

Jacques Palminger & the Kings of Dub Rock - Lied für Alle (directed by Meika Dresenkamp)

Jaques_Palminger

Jacques Palminger = Heinrich Ebber = Hans Fuchs, earlier drummer at Dackelblut punkers and founding member of epic german comedy ensemble Studio Braun, wants you to join in the fun! The fun song, released through Staatsakt, is his latest masterstroke. Watch the video, which continues in the same unique vein, here. (via)

Esben and the Witch - Lucia, at the Precipice (directed by Lydia C-S)

Esben_and_the_witch

Nightmare pop! Brighton trio Esben and the Witch have unveiled the video for their debut single, Lucia, at the Precipice. Released via the Too Pure Singles Club. The video, shot by GDI’s Lydia C-S, features nothing but a solitary dancer in a shadowy room. Great! Watch the wonderful atmospheric video here. (via)

Rope Chain Spiller Kidz - Do It Like Me (directed by Ms. Jayd)

Rope_Chain_Spiller_Kidz_Do_It_Like_Me

Salt ‘N Pepa, anyone? Margreezy + Bishara + fashion designer Swanzy = RC$K from North London. With a sound they designate as a mix of ”old skool garage, grime, hip-hop” with a ”splash of indie, rock, pop, trance, funk”. U can easily compare them with the north-american Hipster movement, but obviously this is pure fun and awesomeness! Watch their video here. (via)

Nobody Beats the Drum - Grindin (directed by Rogier van der Zwaag)

Nobody_beats_the_Drum

Unbelievable. Tons of sprayed wooden blocks, stop-framed for an abstract kiff. Nobody Beats The Drum’s VJ / visual artist Rogier van der Zwaag’s last six months has been spent making nothing but this video. But thanks, it’s amazing. An absolute joy. Check out The Making here and watch the mania over here. (via)

The Count & Sinden - Strange Things (directed by Martin Zähringer)

C&S

This track is off C&S’s ST/Elephant 1234-EP, released via Domino Records. The Count & Sinden are very hit or miss for me, but this 1 is a true burner. Gotta love this breakbeat-sytle! Nice video was shot by Martin Zähringer, watch it here. (via)

We Have Band - Divisive (directed by Jul & Mat)

We_have_Band

Whatta nice collaboration between british up-and-comers We Have Band and the inspiring french directing-duo Jul & Mat. WHB plan to release their self-titled debut album in April via Naive Records. Darren spoke about the album: “We like a lot of darker music. Joy Division, early OMD, and Talking Heads are some of the things that inspire us.” Sounds promising. Watch the Making-of here, 4 the video: click here. (via)

Nocando feat. Busdriver - Two Track Mind (directed by Kyle Gray)

Busdriver

Awesome. Nocando + Busdriver = teh isht! Out of the L.A. underground rap-scene, Nocando’s debut full length opus, Jimmy the Lock - which tooks 3 years in the making - drops now via Alpha Pup Records. Tune in, watch the Kyle Gray-directed video, 4 the single Two Track Mind feat. the mighty Busdriverhere. (via)

Late Of The Pier - Best In The Class (directed by Sam Potter & Steve Glashier)

Late_of_the_Pier

Nice little Facebook-Girl video, made by Late of the Pier’s Sam Potter and Brighton’s Steve Glashier. LOTP’s inspiring debut album Fantasy Black Channel was released 2008 on Parlophone and produced by Erol Alkan. The awaited re-up is called Best In The Class - test it here. (via)

Roll The Dice - The New Black (directed by Frode & Marcus)

Roll_the_dice

What a brilliant and refreshing track. And what a moody video, made by the scandinavian artist duo Frode & Marcus. These hypnotic sounds are the result of Peder Mannerfelt and Malcolm Pardon’s shrinking experiments. Earlier Peter co-produced the unbelieveable advanced Fever Ray LP. Now he’s Roll The Dice: watch the video here. (via)

Booba - Salade, Tomates, Oignons [Yusek Remix] (directed by Lionel Hirlé & Grégory Ohrel)

salade

Here comes Booba (”Je suis pas dans l’bling bling”) inna very technoid remix by Yuksek. The original sounds like this. The video = reminds me of this and this, but it’s cool executed + nicely edited by Lionel Hirlé and Grégory Ohrel. Je le kiffe trop. Watch it here. (via)

Not Squares - Asylum (directed by Andrew Wood)

Not_Squares

These are the fantabulous Not Squares: synth-wizzards Michael Kinloch + Ricki O’Rawe and Keith Winter on drums. Somewhere between DFA & Battles. Their anticipated debut album is due May 2010 via Dublin-based Richter Collective. The new video? Put simply, it’s pure joy: watch it here. (via)

Xiu Xiu - Dear God, I Hate Myself (dirceted by Xiu Xiu)

Xiu_Xiu

NSFW. New video out of Xiu Xiu’s new album Dear God, I Hate Myself. Watch Angela Seo self-induced vomiting & eat this personal Jamie Stewart-quote: “The title came from a night a literally being on my knees and speaking these words in a prayer to God. It is about the tension between feeling hopeless but also feeling as if spiritual love is possible and there for you if you want it. ...” Watch the video here. (via)

SPECIAL 01: GERMANY

GER

This is a german blog, somehow asscociated 2 a music magazine germany’s opinion-leading pop culture magazine Spex, but it’s pretty impossible to watch (comissioned) german music videos here. Pourqoi? And, does it matter? Me thinks: yes. Up next there are some recent german videos. This showcase gives u an idea, how intoxicated the german major landscpae is. Or, is it the music? Or, the directors? You name it. Of course, there are some cool german videos out of the DIY-Empire, but our music video (televison) standart looks like this:

sm

Silbermond - Ich bereue nichts

rp

Radiopilot - Immer wenn wir träumen

ii

Ich + Ich - Pflaster

jb

Jeanette - Material Boy (Don’t Look Back)

eb

Eisblume- Louise

Cass

Stefanie Heinzmann - Unbreakable

rs

Rosenstolz - Gib mir Sonne

th

Tokio Hotel - Don’t jump

kc

Cassandra Steen - Stadt

Die Antwoord - Enter The Ninja (dir.?)

Die_Antwoord

Dark. This is some amazing stuff here: avantgarde alt-pop music by Cape Town’s Die Antwoord. “I made it i’m in the intah-net” - weirdest and most mind-bashing music video since long. “I’m like all these different things, all these different people… fucked into one person”. Check the rad, Gummo-esque hiep-hop video here. (via)

Mia Doi Todd - Open Your Heart (directed by Michel Gondry)

Mia_Doi_Todd

Never heard of L.A.s Mia Doi Todd, before I discoverd this new Michel Gondry video today. Thank god, he leaves the sucking advertising world from time 2 time, for shooting a music video. This nicely choregraphed video for Mia Doi Todds’s Open Your Heart, is just another Gondry-classical. Watch it here. (via)

Meanest Man Contest - Partially Smart (directed by John Irwin)

Meanest_Man

The L.A./S.F. rap duo Meanest Man Contest consists of Eric Steuer (= MC Ericsolo + former Wired music-editor) + Noah Blumberg (= Producer + Quarterbar). The John Irwin-directed video 4 Partially Smart was shot in Los Angeles and deals with the web series called TXT M3 B1TCH. Anyway, the new video is here. (via)

U.S. Girls - Red Ford Radio (directed by Jacqueline Castel & Preston Spurlock)

US_Girls

No, I am not stalking for videos made by Jacqueline Castel! But this new hell of a music video, gonna be the 3rd-Castel-video in here. Check her earlier videos for Gary War or Rainbow Arabia + dont’t miss her latest: 4 the hazy, anti-pop track Red Ford Radio taken from the new U.S. Girls album, via Siltbreeze. Watch the video hereUPDATE: J just told me: gotta wait ’til Monday’s offcial Fader video premiere now. (via)

Carla Morrison - La Despedida (live @Mexicali, Baja California)

Carla_Morrison

If you are bored of John Maus, Feist or Lykke Li, this might be your next source of inspiration. Cant remember having ever blogged a live video here, but this is just: wow! This is Carla Morrison arranging a great version of Manu Chao’s classical La Despedida. Watch the video here. (via)

Efterklang - Modern Drift (directed by Kristian Leth)

Efterklang

This is the next dosis of nicely tranced dream-pop, by Copenhagen natives Efterklang. Their Magic Chairs LP, wrapped in a zeitgeist artwork by Danish designers Nan Na Hvass and Sofie Hannibal, is out soon via Rumraket 4AD. Watch the new Modern Drift video, made by Kristian Leth, here. (via)

Batida - Bazuka (directed by Pedro Coqueirao)

Batida

Le Lisboa-Luanda connection seems to be in good conditions: This is Batida, a bunch of guys from LiLu with great tunes +  their very own radio show in Portugal, supporting Kwaito + Kuduro + Brazilian Funk + Dancehall + Pretoria House. Now, their debut music video popped up. Watch it here. (via)

Beach House - 10 Mile Stereo (directed by Kari Altmann)

Beach_House

I love Beach House (RR!!) since this amazering video was released earlier in 08. Now, their new Teen Park album is out via Carpark Records Subpop and according to GvB, there will be a additional DVD feat. 10 videos for the album’s 10 tracks! Sadly, it looks like u have to watch the video at the GvB-page, which fuckin’ sucks monkey nuts, here. (via)

tUnE-yArDs - Real Live Flesh (directed by Merrill Garbus)

tune_yards

This is the smart, post-DIY msc-vd for Montreal’s incredible Merril Garbus. Real Live Flash, the progressive/lo-fi/R&B track, is off her upcoming Youth EP - via 4AD. Watch out for the concert next Sunday, February 24th @West-Germany and watch the refreshing, self-made clip: here. (via)

Au Revoir Simone - Another Likely Story (directed by Christopher Kucinski)

Au_Revoir_Simone

Since David Lynch somehow expressed his passion for the most adorable all-female Brooklyn trio, Au Revoir Simone are on their run. Taken from last years classy album Still Night, Still Light - via Moshi Moshi Records, this is the flashing video 4 their dreamy track Another Likely Story. Watch it here. (via)

Led Er Est - Laredo (directed by Brendan Harman)

bild-22

After watching this video a while ago and listening 2 this stunning debut album last year, I felt that Led Er Est have something special. And now there’s some progress: a Brendan Harman-directed clip 4 the track Laredo via Wierd Records, photographed by Jacques del Conte. Watch it here. (via)

Les Fauves - Berolina Party Suite (directed by Roberto Papavero)

bild-14

Hackney-based Les Fauves released their amazing Liquid Modernity album via Urtovox last year. The Berlin-inspired track called Berolina Party Suite now has a new, hand-made video: realized by the band’s singer Roberto Papavero, who obviously spent weeks with drawing, scanning and fixing these animations 2gether. You can check the result here. (via)

Little Dragon - Never Never (directed by Ulla Tomtom)

Little_Dragon

This is Little Dragon’s video for Never Never, from their must-listen Machine Dreams LP - released last year through Peacefrog. In the video you will see Swedish-Japanese front woman Yukimi Nagano, in a rather played out kaleidoscope format: watch the Ulla Tomtom-made video here. (via)

Acid Girls - Lightworks (directed by Steven Ilous)

acidgirls

I mentioned the Acid Girls and their cool TNS video earlier, now there’s a video for the b-side of that lovely 12” via IheartComix. The video is 4 those who can handle food-freakouts. Directed by Steven Ilous, watch it here. (via)

Dexpistols feat. Jon-E – New Jack House (directed by P.M.KenVideo)

DEXPISTOLS

First there was Jack House and in 2010 there are Tokyo’s Dexpistols, presenting their 1st release called New Jack House. Their boysnoized version kicks arse and the acclaimed debut LP is out soon via Ed Banger Roc Trax. Until then, there is this video here. (via)
